The Eltham Cemetery is a thoughtfully designed resting place that blends natural beauty with dignified interment options. It provides spaces for both traditional burials and the placement of cremated remains, all carefully integrated into its serene parkland surroundings. The grounds and all interment areas are cared for on an ongoing basis, preserving the landscape’s tranquillity and ensuring it remains a place of respect, reflection, and remembrance for generations to come.
Memorialisation
Designing a memorial plaque and inscription is a deeply personal process that begins when a family is ready; there is no set timeline for this meaningful undertaking.
Alongside the emotions and grief experienced with the loss of a loved one, a multitude of responsibilities and tasks arise, including funeral arrangements, legal and administrative actions, just to scratch the surface.
For this reason, we recommend allowing at least two months before commencing memorialisation. Our experience has shown that attempting to undertake memorialisation alongside these responsibilities may lead to overlooking important details, accidental omissions, and errors.
There is no prescribed way to present an inscription – it’s about considering the information that holds significance to you and taking the time to thoughtfully plan and personalise the message.
We encourage consulting with family and friends, visit our cemetery and/or other cemeteries to draw inspiration, and explore ideas that resonate with the memory of your loved one. Take your time to reflect on what feels most meaningful and respectful to you and your family.
Memorialisation standards have been established across the cemetery to ensure memorials are appropriate to the character, layout and landscape of each area. Different styles of sites, and different sections within the cemetery, are subject to specific standards and requirements. Each style and section has defined design and presentation parameters that guide the form, materials and placement of memorials.
