Dave and John Lyon built and established

Eltham’s first motor garage in the 1920s. Lyon

Brother’s Garage, which was the second RACV

station in Victoria, was situated on the west side

of Main Road opposite Arthur Street. It is said

that their first two cars, a Buick and a Hudson

were the first hire cars in Eltham.

Here the Eltham Motor Garage is featured with

the dainty early Nancy or

Wurmbea dioica,

which

takes its name due to its tendency to appear as

one of the first flowering species of spring.
